Decline of overnight stays in 2020

Split-Dalmatia County hosted 1,2 million tourists who made 8 million overnight stays in 2020. That equals to only 34% of arrivals and 45% of overnight stays compared to 2019.

Due to rise of concern related to Covid-19 at the end of the Summer, many EU countries have closed their borders, making the tourist season in Croatia much shorter than it usually lasts.

Largest emissive markets in 2020 for Split County were Poland, Germany, Czech Republic and Slovenia. Biggest number of overnight stays was recorded in Split, Makarska, Omis and Baska Voda.

Yachtsmen made a bit over half a million overnight stays, which accounts for 36% compared with 2019 records. Most of them came from Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Poland.

Split Airport has not had a great year either, with only 20% of the 2019 traffic.
